Our first day at Acton Mill Care Farm Mr Fenner

Well, we arrived at 9:30 and started the day with a cup of tea for staff and a squash for the children. Matt then gave us a quick briefing about rules and regulations and then we were off. I took 3 children into the new forest school site and the other 3 went with Matt to worm sheep, feed pigs and look after the other animals.

We are very fortunate with the forest school lessons, as the care farm have very knidly donated an area of land for us to use; the video shows the site as it was, from the word GO! Hopefully as the terms progress you will see major changes in future blogs.

The children were great; they worked hard and explored the surroundings whilst staying within the boundaries at all times. They were so enthusiastice that a few of them even wrote their blogs at lunch time, on the newly installed computer. Anyway we are all looking forward to next week and this time we will make sure we clean our boots before getting on the mini-bus. IT IS A LITTLE STINKY NOW, the mini-bus that is!

What a wonderful project - I know the boys will love this fantastic opportunity. If ever you need an extra pair of hands on a Wednesday I am more than willing to volunteer if Mrs Scott will let me escape from the office - I have wellies and lots of Girl Guide camping experience including toasting marshmallows and putting them between chocolate digestive biscuits if that's any help!
