I went to the farm again today and I did forest school I’m going to do forest school all day but when I was in forest school this morning I did siphoning and building a wood store but is not finished yet I’m still tying the knots . Liam has made a fire pit and put water on it so it boils. Before I did the siphoning I actually tried a different way but Mr.Fenner introduced siphoning to me. I got a long stick to get up and down things it helps a lot. After Lunch I did some more forest school we made soup we put a worm in some nettles mud and berries. Ieuan and Dylan made a water stream using drain pipes then Mr.Fenner made a wood store complete. Then we went back and I’m finishing this.

Fantastic session Lewis. The experiments you carried out today were ace. You have explained about gravity and you also showed how to evaluate and amend and experiment. Excellent work.

This is a really interesting posting Lewis. You have obviously learned a lot from this session. I look forward to reading more about your work.

Thankyou Jane for your comments. The children are now actively looking for feedback on each session, which is great.

Your day sounded really interesting Lewis - I would love to know how syphoning works and also to see a picture of the wood store when it is finished. What type of knots did you tie?
ReplyDeleteDear Mrs Martin
ReplyDeleteThe syphon works by a hose stuck in a fluid container higher than the receiving container. A suction is momentarily placed on the lower side of the hose until the fluid is flowing down the down line. Gravity will cause a continued flow.
